Some news has emerged regarding WWE potentially being on the lookout for some major international stars to join the company.
In the past couple of weeks, it was said that WWE was looking for a new Japanese star, and AEW’s Konosuke Takeshita was “exactly” what they were looking for.
It’s important to specify that no-one reported that WWE was interested in Takeshita specifically, just that he was an example of what they’re looking for in the sense he’s a young, big, talented Japanese star.
In today’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reiterated that WWE is looking for said Japanese star, and he also said they’re hoping for a Mexican one too.
He wrote: “We were told that WWE is earmarking the idea for a Mexican and Japanese wrestler with good size once again looking for someone that they can promote to the top”.
Meltzer didn’t mention it, but maybe it’s worth speculating that Santos Escobar, who is of course Mexican, could be the one to fit that role now he’s on his way to the main roster and Triple H is quite evidently a big fan of his.
If you’re in the UK but didn’t manage to get tickets to Clash at the Castle on September 3, WrestleTalk is hosting a watch party at The Joiner on Worship in Shoreditch, London, and we’d love for you to join us! Click here for more details.
