WWE Champion Reveals Talks With Son About Joining The Company WWE

A WWE champion has revealed the talks they’ve had with their son about signing a contract in the future if they ‘applied’ themselves.

Fans of Impact Wrestling may remember King Maxel, the real-life son of Matt Hardy, who appeared during the ‘Broken’ era in 2016.

With the father a fixture in TNA Wrestling, the former WWE star has commented on his son signing a contract after they turn eighteen.

Speaking on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, the TNA World & NXT Tag Team Champion revealed the conversations he’s had about his son’s wrestling future, saying:

“Seven and a half years away. We were actually doing this math last night and I was calculating everything, I was like ‘it’d be 2033 when you’d be up and running’.

“I said ‘Max in all honesty if you wanted to, and if you applied yourself and you did good, I said ‘when you turn 18 years old you could sign a WWE contract.'”

While Maxel clearly has an interest in following in his highly-respected father’s footsteps, Hardy would go on to talk about his children and their approach to wrestling, stating:

“They’re not like obsessed with it like Brodie (Lee, Jr.) is right now, but they’re kind of into it and they have all these other interests too.

“They just understand how things work because they’ve been around it their entire life and they’ve heard about it from me and they’ve watched me.

“There’s no substitute for that actual understanding of kind of what pro wrestling is.”

In December 2016, King Maxel Hardy made his in-ring debut with a victory over Rockstar Spud on the Total Nonstop Deletion special.

Matt Hardy and Rebecca Reyes (known to wrestling fans as Reby Sky) have four children together, with their three sons being joined by a daughter in July 2021.

The Hardys recently competed in the “One Final Table” match against Team 3D, bringing an end to the in-ring career of D-Von Dudley.
