A WWE Hall of Famer has revealed the details of an original scrapped TNA storyline from early in their time with the company.
Mick Foley joined TNA in 2008, making his debut in September of that year.
He would recently revealed the scrapped plans for his character on the Foley is Pod podcast, saying:
“My original storyline was supposed to be that I’d show up, I’d say, ‘I’m Mick Foley and I’ve just purchased the X Division.
“When Scott [Fishman] gave me that, I was like, “Oh, man, I’m in.’ I really wanted to do that.”
The plans were initially put on hold before being scrapped completely.
Foley would note that the story was what got him interested in working for TNA initially.
Although it wasn’t a deciding factor in his choice to work for TNA, Foley would note the presence of Sting, stating:
“It wasn’t really whether or not I was going to get to work with Sting.
“But definitely having him around was really a plus.”
Foley would be granted his release from TNA in June 2011.
He had previously spoken about Vince McMahon’s reaction to his decision to leave WWE in 2008.
Foley had also recently reflected on the impact of Stone Cold Steve Austin on the wrestling industry.
