Following her departure from WWE in February 2025, Sonya Deville has opened up about a missed creative opportunity.
Deville was one of a number of stars to part ways with WWE on February 7, 2025, with it being reported that her contract wasn’t being renewed.
A former mixed martial arts fighter, Deville spoke about a missed opportunity to focus on her background when she teamed with Zoey Stark and Shayna Baszler.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Deville revealed that she hoped to adopt a more appropriate style when she teamed with Baszler and Zoey Stark, but noted it was a missed opportunity for WWE, saying:
“I felt like it was kinda a missed opportunity to not capitalize on that more, especially with our group forming (PFC), I felt like there could’ve been a clearer direction of where we were going.
“We were three chicks who were fed up with the system, anti-authority, that were gonna kick a** and take names.”
Deville noted that WWE moved away from her MMA background as her character evolved and Ronda Rousey, Jessamyn Duke, Marina Shafir and Shayna Baszler were all signed.
Baszler, Stark and Deville formed the Pure Fusion Collection on July 8, 2024, with the collective’s last match taking place on the January 20 2025 episode of WWE Raw.
That show would see Baszler and Stark team up in a losing effort against Damage CTRL (Dakota Kai & IYO SKY).
Following season 6 of WWE Tough Enough, Deville would sign a contract in October 2015 heading to NXT before moving the main roster in November 2017.
