Former WWE Name Discusses Possibility Of Competing In MMA WWE

A former WWE NXT star has addressed his future, commenting on the possibility of him making the jump to MMA.

Prior to Damon Kemp joining WWE in August 2021, Kemp – real name Robert ‘Bobby’ Steveson – was an accomplished amateur wrestler, winning three state championship titles and junior folk style national championships in high school, and qualifying for the NCAA championships in college.

Because of this legitimate combat experience, it has been speculated that Steveson could pursue a career in MMA in the future, with the former No Quarter Catch Crew member leaving WWE in July.

Speaking with Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, Steveson noted that he does have “a little bit” of interest in MMA, but would prefer to continue in pro-wrestling for now.

Noting that he wants to sign with another major company, Steveson said:

“A little bit, got a little interest in there, but like I said, I was wrestling for three years. You invest so much in those three years, you just don’t wanna drop everything. So I guess where I’m at, I don’t wanna just throw away those three years and just like go try something else. So I feel like I want to just to keep wrestling.

“I want to get in with another big company. I want to wrestle everywhere and anywhere. I want to be able to see the world. Being with WWE and NXT, you get to meet a lot of different people, people from different cultures and stuff like that. So that was also pretty cool again to see those type of people.

“So now it’s like I want the opportunity to be able to travel to where those people are from like Japan, the UK, everywhere there’s a squared circle, I want to be on.”

Following three WWE talent departures being revealed, CM Punk has sent a message to one of the latest stars to leave the company, which you can read more about right here.
