Former WWE Star Addresses Creative Behind Money In The Bank WWE

A former WWE star who previously held the Money in the Bank briefcase has commented on the company’s recent use of the contract.

Damien Sandow won his Money in the Bank contract in July 2013, and notably came up short when he cashed in on World Heavyweight Champion John Cena on the October 28, 2013 Raw episode.

Speaking with TMZ’s Inside The Ring, Sandow – who now wrestles as Aron Stevens – discussed whether or not the Money in the Bank briefcase is still a viable way to elevate wrestlers up the card.

Believing that the Money in the Bank stipulation can still produce stars, he said:

“Yes in theory 100%, but it’s what the company does with it. See, I’m a firm believer you can make anything work if you approach it correctly right?

“…How do they present them on television? That’s everything right? As talent, it’s funny like a lot of the websites (are) like, ‘oh this person lost, this person that’, like yeah, don’t you know that someone’s telling them to? Don’t you know that they’re simply going out there, doing the best job they can and trying to move up the ladder?

“In Rocky, the reason Rocky beat Ivan Drago is because that’s what the script said. It was on talent to suspend their disbelief and buy into it.

“I would really like to see more merit-based pushes, if that makes sense. But look, that’s not the way the world is and life it doesn’t work like that, so wrestling would be no different.”
