The Motor City Machine Guns – Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin – have reflected on their run in WWE one year after signing with the company.
After a near 25-year career on the indies and in promotions like ROH and TNA, MCMG joined WWE last year, and a couple of weeks later won the WWE Tag Team Championship.
In a new video on WWE’s social media, Shelley and Sabin have reflected on the journey of making it to WWE and their time with the company so far.
Sabin said:
“We proved that hard work and dedication pay off. We took the long way here. We didn’t make it to the WWE until we were 24 years into our careers.
“We spent time in Japan, in Mexico, Canada, Puerto Rico, travelling the world, learning our craft. And we finally made it here.
“I think that’s really cool for younger people and the younger generation of wrestlers to see, that like, don’t give up, don’t ever give up.
“If you believe in this and you believe in your art, if you believe in your passion, don’t ever give up. Because what you want, what your goal is, what your dream is, it’s realistic and it can be done.”

Shelley added:
“I think there’s three ways to be successful in wrestling, via my anecdotal experience. You can be chosen, you can be lucky, or you can be a master of the craft, you can be undeniably good.
“Usually your superstars, your John Cenas, your Cody Rhodes, your Roman Reigns, your CM Punks – they’re all three.
“Us, that third one is what got us in the door. We’ve made the most of every opportunity, we’re going to continue to do so, and it’s been a dream come true.”
