WWE Senior Ringside Physician Chris Amann has taken to social media to reveal that he has received the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.
He took to both Twitter and Instagram, writing:
Just received my first dose of the @moderna_tx COVID-19 vaccine this evening. So appreciative of and thankful for all of the health care workers, researchers, and organizations that made this possible to bring this pandemic under control. Didn’t feel a thing!
WWE’s corporate website has a biography on Amann, which is as follows:
Christopher M. Amann, M.D., is WWE, Inc.’s Senior Ringside Physician. Dr. Amann works with WWE’s Main Roster Talent, but also provides medical care to the NXT/Developmental Talent. As Senior Ringside Physician, Dr. Amann oversees the medical care of the other ringside physicians and athletic trainers on staff for WWE and NXT. Dr. Amann began his tenure with WWE in May of 2008 after spending several years in private practice with and as an attending physician for Illinois Bone and Joint Institute (IBJI) in Chicago, Illinois. He is one of our original physicians tasked with developing and implementing our professional-level sports medicine program and Wellness Policy.
Dr. Amann earned his undergraduate degree in microbiology (B.S., Microbiology) from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. From there, Dr. Amann was accepted to and earned his medical degree (MD) from Loyola University Chicago’s Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood, Illinois. Dr. Amann then completed an internship and residency in Family Medicine at MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn, Illinois. Finally, Dr. Amann completed his training by pursuing and completing a fellowship in Sports Medicine at The Ohio State University. Dr. Amann is Board Certified in both Family Medicine and Sports Medicine.
During Dr. Amann’s training, he served as a team physician for The Ohio State University Athletic Department, working with the Men’s Football, Women’s Soccer, Men’s LaCrosse, and Women’s Ice Hockey teams. Simultaneously, he also worked as team physician for Ohio Wesleyan University and multiple local Ohio high schools, providing medical care to student athletes. He has provided ringside care for the United States Professional Boxing Association and he has acted as the team physician for the semi-professional Chicago football team, the Chargers.
While in private practice, Dr. Amann provided medical care and team physician coverage for several Chicago area high schools and Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, IL. In 2003, Dr. Amann began working with US Soccer and provided medical care to the Women’s National Soccer Team. Working closely with athletes such as Mia Hamm, Brandi Chastain, and Abby Wambach, Dr. Amann traveled extensively with the team to multiple World Cups and, in 2008, traveled to Beijing, China to serve as the team physician for the gold-medal winning U.S. Women’s Olympic Soccer Team. He maintains the credential of team physician for the Unites States Olympic Committee.
Dr. Amann has been published in several medical journals, routinely attends annual Sports Medicine meetings, and has lectured both nationally and internationally at various medical meetings and venues. He is a member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM), the American Academy of Family Practice (AAFP), and a diplomat of the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM).
In his free time, Dr. Amann enjoys playing guitar and has played with several different musical bands in the past. He also enjoys participating in several sports, including weight training, soccer, and golf. Currently a resident of the Chicagoland area, Dr. Amann enjoys traveling both personally and professionally, and spending time with his four nephews and niece.
