A WWE star has praised the quality of women’s wrestling on a night where an NXT and AEW show went head-to-head.
May 25, 2025, saw NXT Battleground take place in Tampa, Florida, while AEW Double or Nothing took place in Glendale, Arizona.
WWE’s Natalya took to Twitter to reflect on the quality of the women’s wrestling she watched without specifying which show she was referencing, tweeting:
“Watched a lot of incredible Women’s Wrestling last night… what a time to be a female in the sport.
“Give us an opportunity and we’re gonna crush it. And then top it.”
AEW Double or Nothing saw Anna Jay & Harley Cameron defeat Megan Bayne & Penelope Ford on the Zero Hour pre-show.
The main show saw Mercedes Mone win the Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, beating Jamie Hayter.
Timeless Toni Storm also defeated Mina Shirakawa to retain the AEW Women’s World Championship, setting her path to face Mone at All In Texas on July 12.
Over on Battleground, Sol Ruca retained the NXT Women’s North American Championship against Kelani Jordan.
This was one match that Natalya confirmed as being “fantastic” following a comment on Twitter.
Jordynne Grace was unsuccessful as she challenged Stephanie Vaquer for the NXT Women’s Championship, with Natalya going on to state:
“You both were fantastic.”
Fans were broadly supportive of Natalya’s original tweet about the quality of women’s wrestling.
Having recently competed at the NWA Crockett Cup event, Natalya also revealed the idea of the “Nattie Rub“, referencing her opponent Kenzie Paige and WWE’s Charlotte Flair as recipients.
