Some more news has come to light regarding WWE and the changes it is making to NXT and its overall developmental system.
As we know by now, not only will there be changes to the presentation of NXT TV starting September 14, but there is also a different approach being taken internally too.
Dave Meltzer reports in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE management has said there is to be “no more” scouting of independent wrestlers.
Instead, scouting will focus on people who have the “look” to be a main event star, and the emphasis will be on training them to wrestle how WWE wants them to wrestle.
The philosophy is specifically said to be that “AEW can have all the independent talent to itself”.
It’s worth remembering that this is wrestling so “no more” doesn’t mean exactly that and there will always be exceptions and adjustments made in the future.
WWE recently signed a number of developmental talents following tryouts in Las Vegas ahead of SummerSlam, which you can read about at this link.
