WWE Not Really Planning NXT Europe? WWE

WWE officially announced that the NXT UK brand would be going on hiatus following the upcoming Worlds Collide event, with the big crossover show set to be the last show featuring the NXT UK brand.

In it’s place, WWE announced that the brand will be repurposed as ‘NXT Europe’, which is set to launch in 2023.

With the repurposing of NXT UK, WWE released many stars from the brand last night, most of whom were UK based mainstays of the brand.

Dave Meltzer spoke about the change in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, noting that the releases led to skepticism around the relaunch, with the idea that they wouldn’t cut so many talents if a show was being launched in a few months.

Meltzer also spoke about Amale, who was let go from the company, and how she was the only French star in WWE, noting that there’s a feeling she would not have been released if WWE were planning a European relaunch.

He wrote:

The fact so many were let go immediately let to skepticism regarding the relaunch, with the idea they wouldn’t cut so many people if they were planning on launching something in just a few months, and with the vagueness of the announcement of the NXT Europe branch the day it was acknowledged privately, but not publicly, by WWE that the UK branch is shutting down. Another key is while all those released were from the UK, Amale is from France, she is the only star from France they have under contract and is someone who has gotten them pub in that country for that reason. The question is if they really were planning a European relaunch and expansion, the feeling is she would not have been released and it just seemed like a way to cover up the dropping of the U.K. brand and training facility that was expected the past few weeks

NXT UK stars Tyler Bate, Blair Davenport and Gallus appeared on this week’s NXT 2.0 show, seemingly setting them up to appear on the show moving forward.
