It has previously been reported that WWE was desperate to have fans at the 2021 Royal Rumble, with reports suggesting the company is thinking outside the box for safe ways to have a crowd at the show.
However, it seems like these plans have been dropped, as Jon Alba of the Living The Gimmick podcast is reporting that sources within the company have told him that, as of right now, there won’t be fans at the Royal Rumble.
Just dropped on @theLTGpodcast:
Multiple sources indicate there are currently no plans for #WWE to have fans at the Royal Rumble.

This is obviously a real shame, as the Royal Rumble PPV won’t be the same without fans, but it is certainly the right call given rising cases of COVID. Alba notes that Florida announced 17,783 new positive COVID cases yesterday.
It’s important to note that this is just the plan as of right now, and there is always a chance that the situation changes with just over three weeks until the big pay-per-view event.
Make sure you stay tuned to WrestleTalk.com for potential updates on the situation of having fans at the Royal Rumble, and later down the line when we can expect crowds to be back at shows.
