WWE are reportedly not signing an independent star that recently underwent a tryout with the company prior to WrestleMania.
WWE recently held it’s latest tryouts back in March, with the tryouts taking place in London, and featuring a number of major names from both the European and British independent scene.
One of those names was current PROGRESS Men’s Champion Luke Jacobs, who also made a cameo as a security guard on the WWE SmackDown show in Barcelona.
Following the tryouts, it has been reported that WWE would be looking to prioritise international signings ahead of the launch of NXT Europe later this year, with a number of names having reportedly signed with the company following the tryouts.
However, in an update from Fightful Select (subscription required), Jacobs will not be among those names, at least not as of now.
Fightful Select learned that Jacobs received the news that he had not been signed for the time being during PROGRESS’ Super Strong Style 16 weekend.
Sources noted that, much like Goldenboy Santos, Jacobs massively impressed at the tryout, and he is expected to get another look with the company in the future.
