WWE NXT Championship Status Update

The status of the NXT Championship is set to be addressed on next week’s episode of WWE NXT following Oba Femi’s vacation.

In recent weeks, vignettes have been airing for the arrival of Oba Femi on the WWE main roster, with the vignettes airing on both Raw and SmackDown since his appearance at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Oba reigned as the current NXT Champion, with him slated to defend the title against TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater at this week’s New Years Evil episode of the show, which Oba won.

However, the show went off the air with Oba leaving the NXT Championship in the ring after his victory, seemingly vacating the belt, with WWE later confirming that the title had been vacated.

Today on social media, WWE provided an update on the title’s future, announcing that NXT General Manager Ava will address the future of the NXT Championship on next week’s episode of the show.

Oba isn’t the only NXT star to move up to the main roster, with Jordynne Grace and Trick Williams joining the SmackDown brand, while Je’von Evans joined the Raw roster.
