Former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Cedric Alexander has compared his NXT comeback to “returning to high school.”

On the July 9 edition of WWE NXT, Cedric Alexander made his return to the NXT brand as an official member of the roster.

At NXT Great American Bash Night 1, Alexander picked up his first win back on the brand over Brooks Jensen after a confrontation with him and Shawn Spears earlier in the night. The match also marked Cedric’s first televised WWE singles victory in three years.

In a digital exclusive, Cedric Alexander was asked about Shawn Spears watching his match with Brooks Jensen from ringside. He answered:

“Shawn Spears, me and him go back a long way. He’s had a very shady past, to say the least. But the difference between me and Shawn Spears, I’m here to help the young talent, compete with them.”

“He’s here to use them for his own means and manipulate them to do whatever he wants them to do.

“As you can see, from Brooks Jensen, the angry young man that he is, Mr. Spears’ methods do not work,”

Comparing his NXT comeback to returning to high school, Alexander said:

“It’s been an experience. It’s like going back to high school again.”

“You see a bunch of new friends, see a bunch of old friends you haven’t seen in a long time, and it’s good to mix it up with the people every once in a while. But yeah, I’m enjoying my time here. I think I might be here for a long time,”
