Duke Hudson WWE Release Reason Revealed

Duke Hudson WWE Release Reason Revealed WWE

The name behind the release of WWE NXT’s Duke Hudson in January 2025 has been revealed, and it’s none other than Triple H.

News emerged on February 4, 2025, that Hudson had been released by WWE, although no reason was specified for his departure.

Dave Meltzer has now revealed that Triple H was the one who made the call during a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio.

According to Meltzer, Triple H didn’t see the former Chase U member as main roster material, explaining:

“(Paul) Levesque is the one who makes the calls and for whatever reason he didn’t see Duke as a main roster guy.

“So at some point when you’re 34 and you don’t see him as a main roster guy and he’d been there for six years it’s kind of like that’s the way it works.”

As previously noted, on November 19, 2024, Ridge Holland faced Andre Chase on WWE NXT, with the future of Chase U in the balance, as can be seen in highlights below this news story.

With Holland successful, Chase U would be no more, although Andre Chase has featured on NXT since while Thea Hail, Riley Osbourne and Hudson have not.

Hudson’s last televised singles match was in September 2024, losing to Holland, with his final match taking place on an NXT house show on November 22 of that year, beating Anthony Luke.
