WWE NXT Star To Face Cody Rhodes At John Cena’s Final Show Announced

The NXT star facing WWE Champion Cody Rhodes at next weekend’s Saturday Night’s Main Event has been announced.

UPDATE: Also set for SNME in a WWE main roster vs NXT match is Bayley vs Sol Ruca.

Next week’s SNME will feature the final match of John Cena as he faces the winner of the Last Time Is Now tournament – LA Knight or GUNTHER.

In a theme that Cena himself requested for his final night, the other matches on that show will feature main roster stars taking on NXT talent.

During tonight’s WWE SmackDown, Cody Rhodes announced he will be in action on that show, and revealed who’ll be facing him.

The NXT star facing Rhodes at SNME will be whoever is the NXT Champion coming out of tomorrow night’s Deadline premium live event.

At Deadline, Ricky Saints defends the NXT Championship against Oba Femi.

So, either Saints or Femi will be the opponent for WWE Champion Cody Rhodes at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Rhodes and Saints of course have history from their time in AEW when Saints – then wrestling as Ricky Starks – got his big break by answering Rhodes’ TNT Championship open challenge in June 2020.

The two have gone on to become close friends since then.

If Femi ends up being Rhodes’ opponent, it’ll be the first time they’ll have met in the ring.
