WWE NXT Star Believes He Will Defeat World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER WWE

NXT Tag Team Champion Axiom has made a bold statement after losing to WWE World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER.

The NXT star was introduced by GUNTHER as his opponent on the March 14 SmackDown episode, which took place in Axiom’s home country of Spain.

The Spanish star had an impressive showing against the World Heavyweight Champion, before coming up short after almost 10 minutes of action.

Speaking in a SmackDown digital exclusive interview, Axiom noted that he doesn’t feel great following his previous losses, but said the crowd gave him hope.

Now believing that he will defeat GUNTHER and become WWE World Heavyweight Champion one day, Axiom said:

“Right now, I don’t feel good because both those matches that you mentioned, I lost. I did lose against The Hardy Boyz. I did lose against Gunther. I feel like I let my entire family down, I feel like I let all my friends down.

“I feel like I let my tag team partner down tonight. But at the same time, tonight, I felt loved. Tonight, I felt hope, hope that one day, I will step back in that ring, and I will claim that championship, that one day, I’ll step back in that ring, and I will defeat Gunther.”

This was not the first time the Spanish star came up short against GUNTHER, with then-A-Kid failing to capture the NXT UK Championship from then-WALTER on the January 14, 2021 NXT UK show.

As referenced by Axiom, he and Nathan Frazer unsuccessfully challenged for Matt & Jeff Hardy’s TNA Tag Team Championship at the March 11 WWE NXT Roadblock special.

Their most recent televised NXT Tag Team Title defence saw them defeat Josh Briggs & Pro Wrestling NOAH’s Yoshiki Inamura at NXT Vengeance Day on February 15.

Nathan Frazer – Axiom’s NXT Tag Team Championship partner – has now reacted to Axiom appearing on WWE SmackDown without him, click here to read more.
