Do you like NXT? Do you like reading live results? Do you like reading live results for the January 27 episode of NXT?
Did you answer yes to at least one of those questions? Well, I have a treat for you.
On tonight’s show, we have four tag matches, three of which are part of the Dusty Classic tournament.
Here is tonight’s card:
- Kyle O’Reilly & Finn Balor vs. Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch
- KUSHIDA & Leon Ruff vs. Grizzled Young Veterans (Dusty Classic Quarter-Final)
- Killian Dain & Drake Maverick vs. MSK (Dusty Classic Quarter-Final)
- Raquel González & Dakota Kai vs. Aliyah & Jessi Kamea (Dusty Classic)
Balor & O'Reilly def. Lorcan & Burch
One day I’d like to be as good at something as Kyle O’Reilly and Finn Balor are at professional wrestling. Every single thing they do looks utterly effortless, and this match was just another piece of evidence to support that.
While it wasn’t long, it was enough to tell a great story between the two men who have been feuding for the NXT title for months, and the tag team champions. O’Reilly locked in a heel hook on Burch for the win, but the story really came after the match, when Pete Dunne made a surprise appearance, snapped the fingers of Balor, and ended the show facing the Undisputed Era after Adam Cole and Roderick Strong ran down to clear house.
It seems that Dunne is very keen to insert himself into the title picture, and I don’t think there’s a human on earth who would object to a Balor vs, Dunne vs. O’Reilly feud.
And that was the show. Overall, pretty solid if you ask me. Plenty of good matches, with a couple of standout tag bouts scattered through the night. The main event scene in NXT is stacked to bursting point, and Pete Dunne’s inclusion in the title picture has just made things even more interesting.
Goodnight!

Bronson Reed def. Isaiah "Swerve" Scott
A great little match here and a nice clash of styles, with the powerhouse Bronson Reed taking on the high-flying, fast-moving Scott.
Scott appeared to be on top, targeting Reed’s shoulder for much of the match. However, Reed’s power proved to be too much for Scott, and a Tsunami splashed spelled the end for Swerve, who is struggling to gain momentum in the black and yellow brand as of late.
Another win for Reed, though, so perhaps NXT has some bigger plans for him in the months ahead.
Now THAT was a COLOSSAL victory for @bronsonreedwwe. #WWENXT pic.twitter.com/Nptr34yI5c

Toni Storm Challenges Io Shirai
Toni Storm is in the ring, and she calls out Io Shirai, who she points out she has beaten in the past. Shirai enters the ring, and a fight ensues, involving not just Storm and Shirai, but former RETRIBUTION star, Mercedes Martinez, too.
Storm manages to get the better of Shirai and Martinez, finishing the segment holding the belt. This will no doubt be a fantastic feud between three of the most talented women in world wrestling.
Up next is Isaiah “Swerve” Scott vs. Bronson Reed.

Grizzled Young Veterans def. KUSHIDA & Leon Ruff
Zack Gibson is living proof that you can be the worst and the best at the same time. What a terrible man, but what a great wrestler and character he is.
Comfortably the match of the night so far, with Gibson and James Drake working to ground the high-flying duo of KUSHIDA and Leon Ruff.
The Grizzled Young Veterans won after managing to isolate Ruff in the ring, but the real story came after the match, when Johnny Gargano and Austin Theory rushed the ring to attack KUSHIDA and Ruff.
Their attack was cut short however, when tremendous creep, Dexter Lumis, appeared at ringside and used his special stare to scare everyone off.
The cameras then suddenly cut backstage, where we see Curt Stallion on the ground, accusing Santos Escobar of attacking him. It looks like that match is going to be delayed at least another week.
Question…why when people get attacked backstage are they surrounded by 10 people just shouting gibberish? That’s not in the first aid booklet.

Tyler Rust def. Jobber
Malcolm Bivens and his client Tyler Rust continue to impress, this time with an easy win over *insert jobber*.
Rust dominated throughout, eventually tapping out his opponent and taking a selfie to commemorate the moment. What a heel, I bet it was in portrait mode, too.
Need time for a post-win selfie? 😀

Dakota Kai & Raquel Gonzalez def. Aliyah & Jessi Kamea
I mean, what did you all think was going to happen? It’s Aliyah.
It must be very strange being Aliyah. You work for one of the top wrestling promotions in the world, but you just always lose and never get any kind of push.
As usual, Gonzalez was completely dominant in this match, with Aliyah and Kamea barely hitting a move during the very short match. She cut off a Kamea hot tag before hitting her with a huge one-arm powerbomb.
Kai and Gonzalez advance and face the team of Kacy Catanzaro & Kayden Carter in the next round.
Johnny Gargano is backstage and continues to be quite annoying. I really do not get what this character is supposed to be.

MSK def. Killian Dain & Drake Maverick
MSK continue their impressive start to life in NXT with a relatively comfortable win over the odd couple of Killian Dain and Drake Maverick in round two of the men’s Dusty Classic.
You can see already why they’ve been promoted to a spot so high on the card so soon after signing. Anyone who watched them as The Rascalz in IMPACT knows they’re more than good enough to challenge for titles in WWE, and their slick offense was on show tonight.
Dain and Maverick tried their best to work together, but great tandem offense from Wes Lee and Nash Carter proved to be too much, especially for Maverick, who has lost the shine he had after his memorable re-signing in 2020.
Lee and Carter hit a running blockbuster on Maverick for the win, and they are now into the semi-final of the 2021 Dusty Cup.
Curt Stallion cuts a promo, promising to defeat Cruiserweight Champion Santos Escobar, and up next is Dakota Kai & Raquel Gonzalez vs. Aliyah & Jessi Kamea.
MSK gets the WIN over Killian Dain & @WWEMaverick in the #DustyClassic Quarterfinals!
