WWE NXT Main Event Brought In Close To One Million Viewers

On this week’s episode of NXT, Keith Lee defeated Adam Cole in a Winner Takes All match to not only retain the North American Championship, but also capture the NXT Championship.

The match was pretty good, and is definitely worth you checking out if you haven’t seen it already. It was rated ****1/4 stars by Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Going up against Cole and Lee in the main event slot for AEW was former WWE Champion and wrestling legend Chris Jericho, taking on popular AEW star Orange Cassidy.

Jericho called the match one of the best of his whole career, and while it was very good, it probably wasn’t at that level and was certainly hurt by the lack of crowd in attendance.

In the overall viewership for the shows, NXT defeated AEW for the third consecutive week. You can read more about that and see the official numbers by clicking here.

In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer notes that the NXT main event drew close to one million viewers, with 922,000 watching the title vs. title match that closed the show.

For comparison, Jericho vs. Cassidy, two of AEW’s traditionally biggest draws, brought in significantly less, with 675,000 people tuning in for their match.

This is obviously great news for NXT, but Tony Khan has taken to social media to say that he is incredibly happy with AEW’s viewership figures, especially considering they defeated NXT in the all-important 18-49 demographic.
