The reaction of those within CW to WWE NXT viewership figures for this week’s premiere episode has been revealed.
The October 1 NXT episode was a big show, kicking off the gold brand’s time on the CW Network.
The show was very eventful, with new title designs revealed, and a new NXT Champion crowned.
The show ultimately drew impressive viewership figures, amassing 895,000 viewers including a 0.26 rating in advertisers’ targeted 18 – 49 year old demographic.
Per Mike Johnson of PWInsider, CW officials were “absolutely thrilled” with these figures.
The report noted that this number had these officials celebrating as they would’ve been happy with 500,000 viewers for this premiere episode.
Shawn Michaels has taken to Twitter to address these ratings, writing:
“895,000 viewers tuned in to the NXT debut on The CW – our best numbers in a year. Great start. See you next week live from St. Louis!”
The show was headlined by a NXT Championship match, with Trick Williams ultimately defeating Ethan Page to win back his gold.
Roxanne Perez defended her NXT Women’s Championship against Giulia earlier in the night, with Perez winning following Cora Jade’s interference.
