Former NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes has commented after being chosen to compete in the US Title tournament on SmackDown.
When the tournament to determine Logan Paul’s next challenger was announced, it was revealed that NXT would have one representative added to the lineup.
WWE has now confirmed that Carmelo Hayes will represent the gold brand as the eighth man in the tournament.
Hayes has now taken to Twitter to argue that he’s the best choice to get the job done for NXT.
Ready for SmackDown, Hayes said:
Who better to represent #WWENXT
They can’t lil bro us anymore, see you Friday Night #Smackdown!!

Carmelo Hayes had previously teased his participation in the US Title tournament, sharing a photo of himself with John Cena’s version of the US Championship belt.
Hayes has received a lot of praise over the years from notable names, including Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative Shawn Michaels.
The rising star has wrestled several times on the main roster, most recently against Finn Balor on the June 26 edition of Raw.
Carmelo Hayes will face Grayson Waller in the first round of the US Title tournament on this week’s (December 15) edition of SmackDown.
Trick Williams has now reacted to the announcement, which you can read more about right here.
