SmackDown Star Revealed As Mystery Partner In NXT Main Event WWE

In the main event of tonight’s August 1 WWE NXT, a main roster star made his return to the brand to team with his former rivals.

When Gallus attacked the new NXT Tag Team Champions Tony D’Angelo and Channing ‘Stacks’ Lorenzo at the beginning of tonight’s episode of NXT, the Family vowed revenge.

Noting that he was going to call in an ‘old friend’, Tony D’Angelo made a call on screen and the show featured the mysterious tease of who might join Tony D and Stacks in the show’s main event.

As the entrances were made for the match, the mystery partner for the Family was a familiar face and old foe: Santos Escobar!

The number one contender to the WWE United States Championship Santos Escobar made his return to WWE NXT to face off against the Gallus boys alongside Tony D and Stacks.

Fans were very excited to see the LWO star return to the Performance Center as he teamed with the tag champs and even got in on their signature ‘hockey fight’ haymakers at a point in the match.

It was of course a callback to the feud between the Escobar-led Legado Del Fantasma and D’Angelo’s family (which then featured Stacks and Troy ‘Two Dimes’ Donovan, now AEW’s Cole Karter) in NXT over a year ago.

In the end, the former rivals put their differences aside and picked up the win over Gallus in the main event, as well as hugging it out at the end of the show.
