The main event of tonight’s April 1 episode of WWE NXT at the Performance Center played host to the brand’s latest title change.
In the main event of the March 4 episode, Shawn Spears defeated Tony D’Angelo to become NXT North American Champion.
Spears’ reign goes down as a short one as it came to an end tonight, less than a month later.
In tonight’s main event, Ricky Saints picked up the win, defeating Spears to win the title.
After he was released by AEW in February, this was only Saints’ third match since joining WWE NXT.
As he was celebrating, he was attacked by another ex-AEW star, former NXT Champion Ethan Page, who laid out Saints with a Twisted Grin, which is Page’s version of a Twist of Fate.
The crowd chanted “Tony Fumbled” as the show went off the air with Page standing above Saints, referencing AEW CEO Tony Khan.
Elsewhere in championship news on tonight’s NXT, Stephanie Vaquer relinquished the NXT Women’s North American Championship, meaning she’s now just the NXT Women’s Champion instead of holding both titles – and Oba Femi vs Trick Williams vs Je’Von Evans was announced for Stand & Deliver for Femi’s NXT Title.
