AEW’s Thunder Rosa has shared her thoughts on the WWE NXT women’s division and believes it outperforms the men’s.
The December 10 episode of WWE NXT ended with four women featured in the main event as Roxanne Perez & Cora Jade took on Giulia & Kelani Jordan.
The full match from last night’s episode can be seen below this news story, with it being far from the first time that members of the NXT women’s roster have closed the show.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, AEW’s Thunder Rosa considered the impact of the women’s roster in NXT, saying:
“The fact that some of the matches are better than the male matches consistently every week, that’s saying something.
“From what Evolution was meant to be when [WWE] did that show, to what it is right now, especially in WWE, it’s night and day.
“The amount of athleticism that exists in the women’s division is incredible.”
WWE Evolution was the October 2018 PPV that featured all-female performers and has yet to be repeated.
Thunder Rosa would go on to discuss the strengths of the women under the WWE NXT brand, noting:
“You have really good women who are excellent at cutting promos, and they’re extremely charismatic and extremely entertaining, so we are at another level.
“That’s why I said that the competition is so high — that makes us all excel on what we do, and it’s amazing when you have that kind of environment, and then you can thrive on that environment, which is what they’re doing in ‘NXT.’
“All these women are thriving because they’re getting that opportunity to get all the reps that they need to become superstars.”
With WWE opening its ‘transfer window‘ between all three brands, NXT stars are eligible for a main roster call-up.
WWE has also recently increased the number of championships with the addition of the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship on Raw and the WWE Women’s United States Championship on SmackDown.
Currently on WWE NXT, Roxanna Perez holds the NXT Women’s Championship with Fallon Henley being NXT Women’s North American Champion.
