An update as emerged on WWE’s backstage reaction to Omos after the Nigerian Giant went undefeated during his recent stint in Japan.
At the start of January, Omos began a run in Pro Wrestling NOAH during which he won the GHC Tag Team Championship alongside Jack Morris, before being recalled to WWE a few days ago.
A report from Fightful Select now notes that “Omos impressed those in WWE with his run in NOAH and his willingness to go to Japan.”
In other Omos news, it has been reported that he will be in Indianapolis, Indiana for the upcoming Royal Rumble.
While there is no confirmation that he is set to appear in the titular Royal Rumble match, Fightful Select reported that the possibility “has been discussed”.
Omos made an impressive showing during his series of matches in Japan for Pro Wrestling NOAH, ultimately being undefeated after seven matches.
While he was a GHC Tag Team Champion in the promotion, retaining the titles with partner Jack Morris on January 25, Omos announced that he was returning to WWE.
He relinquished the championship but vowed that he will one day return.
NOAH has confirmed that the championship is now vacant, despite Omos initially passing his half of the championship to Daga.
