AJ Styles has revealed that he has an idea in mind for his retirement match and opponent, fuelling speculation about his in-ring future.
With Styles previously hinting that he’s winding down on his in-ring career, many fans have shared pitches for Styles final years as a full-time competitor.
Speaking with Inside The Ropes, Styles noted that he has an idea of who he wants his final opponent to be:
“I’ve got one in mind, the way I’d like to retire. Will it happen? I don’t know.
“I don’t know exactly who it would be. I got in my mind who it should be, but we’ll see what happens.”
Before then Styles will face Seth Rollins at the May 27 Night of Champions event, with the winner becoming the inaugural WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
Discussing his return to the world title picture, the two-time WWE Champion noted that ‘it’s about time‘.
