WWE Original Plans For Charlotte Flair After WrestleMania 36

WWE Original Plans For Charlotte Flair After WrestleMania 36

At WrestleMania 36, Charlotte Flair defeated Rhea Ripley to win the NXT Women’s Championship in what was actually one of the better matches of the entire weekend.

In the immediate aftermath of her win, many fans were excited to see Charlotte Flair in NXT, mixing it up with the likes of Io Shirai, Dakota Kai, Mia Yim and more.

However, fans quickly soured on Flair as NXT Women’s Champion, likely because of the fact that she defeated everyone that she stepped in the ring with in NXT. It felt like no one got over by facing Flair.

With regards to why WWE had Flair win all of her matches in NXT, it has emerged that this is because she was being prepped for a feud with Raw Women’s Champion Asuka.

On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer notes that the plan WWE had was to book Flair in a long-term feud with “The Empress of Tomorrow” after she eventually dropped the NXT Women’s Championship.

It seems like plans have changed, as WWE had Flair and Asuka compete in a few matches in consecutive weeks on Monday Night Raw. Flair’s last match on TV was a submission loss to Asuka in a title match.

Flair hasn’t been seen on TV since that loss, with reports suggesting she could be out of action for anywhere between a few weeks, and several months. For the more on that story, click here.
