The WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida has temporarily shut down operations due to Hurricane Ian.
Over 2 million homes and buildings in Florida have lost power due to the hurricane, which hit on Wednesday (September 28) as a category four storm.
It has been reported that the Performance Center had closed due to the storm. In an update, Dave Meltzer reports that as the Performance Center is located pretty high up, WWE isn’t currently dealing with any major problems with the facility.
Discussing the damage so far, Meltzer noted the following in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter:
“We were told the problems at the Performance Center, which has been shut down, aren’t that bad, as because the location is high there was little water that got in the gym. If it had been in a lower location in Orlando it would have been flooded. There is still a lot to clean up from the hurricane, but the building was pretty much not damaged at all.”
It has also been reported that, following concerns about Friday’s SmackDown taping, several WWE stars who reside in Florida will miss the upcoming taping.
We will continue to provide updates on the situation as they become available.
