WWE Planning Upcoming Show To Be ‘Major Event’ WWE

WWE is reportedly planning for a notable upcoming show to be a ‘major event’ ahead of the start of a new partnership.

Earlier today, it was confirmed by Deadline that the premiere of WWE NXT on it’s new network of the CW is set to take place on the October 1 episode of the show.

The sow will be the very first time that the NXT brand has aired on broadcast television, and WWE are reportedly hoping to turn the launch into a big event.

Per PWInsider Elite (via Wrestle Features), there have been early plans made for the episode to emanate outside of the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, and instead be held on the road in a major arena.

WWE and the CW are looking to approach that first episode as a major event, with one source comparing it to early NXT Takeovers in terms of it’s importance to the brand.

WWE wants to put it’s best foot forward when building it’s partnership with the CW.

In regards to where it would take place, PWInsider was told that several potential markets have been discussed for the taping, with the most prominently mentioned in recent days being Chicago.

Chicago is the home of one of the headquarters for Nexstar Media Group, who owns the CW Network and made the deal to bring NXT to the network.
