WWE Champion Addresses Potential Character Change

WWE Champion Addresses Potential Character Change WWE

A WWE Champion has addressed the possibility of a character change, noting it would take a lot from him to commit to the shift.

Ethan Page is the current NXT North American Champion and has pretty much lived up the ideals of “All Ego”.

During a recent appearance on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Page was asked about the possibility of a face turn.

Reflecting on his mean streak with WWE NXT, Page suggested Shawn Michaels has encouraged it, saying:

“A part of me that I’ve known has been there my whole life, and then Shawn Michaels pulling it out of me.

“I don’t know, maybe he just sees a little of his crazy ass in mine, and he’s just like, hey, let’s be some pricks together.”

While he’s clearly comfortable as a heel, Page was also asked about a potential face turn, going on to say:

“That’s an interesting question. It would take a lot in me to be nice to strangers (laughs).

“At this stage in my career, with the amount of things that I feel like fans expect from me, I don’t know if I would ever like to be nice.”

Having debuted in WWE a touch over a year ago, Page revealed that he thought the initial job offer call was a prank.

Page won the NXT Championship forty days after his debut, defeating then-champion Trick Williams, Je’Von Evans and Shawn Spears in a Fatal Four-way match at Heatwave on July 7.

It was recently reported that Ethan Page was one of two NXT names to be internally discussed for a major main roster move.
