Next WWE ID Signing Revealed? WWE

A potential new WWE signing has been revealed ahead of a championship opportunity taking place later this weekend.

With Laynie Luck continuing to defend the WWE ID Women’s Championship on the independent wrestling scene, a new challenger has the opportunity not only to win the title but also to secure a contract under the development program.

The match takes place on March 22 at the Women’s Wrestling Revolution Plus Tournament For Tomorrow show, with Luck defending against Allie Katch.

WWE ID confirmed on Twitter that should Katch be victorious, not only will she be champion, but a WWE ID contract will also be heading her way.

Katch would respond to the match announcement with a repost on Twitter, sharing a screengrab of a previous WWE ID post that noted “you never know when a new prospect on the indies will be ID’d”

The independent star made her debut in 2015 and has gone on to compete internationally, including in GCW, although she would be forced to miss in-ring action for much of last year due to an injury that saw her break her leg in two places.

Returning to action in late 2025, the former GCW Tag Team Champion would also reunite with Effy at Game Changer Wrestling on March 15 this year, facing Unsigned And Don’t Care (Anakin Murphy & Gary Jay) in a match that would end in a no-contest.

Recently, a WWE ID contract was offered to Jimmy House, a trainee at the wrestling school owned by AEW star Dustin Rhodes, which would go on to share their support.

The Purpose of WWE ID

Introduced in October 2024, WWE ID has seen a number of independent stars signed to the developmental program, with a career in the company being a potential outcome.

It stands alongside other pathways into WWE, including the NIL program (Next-In-Line), which is designed to develop college athletes as potential stars, and the regular tryouts, with Rayne Leverkusen being an example of a recent independent star to have signed through that path.

WWE ID works with a number of partner training schools, including those run by already established talent, such as Booker T’s Reality of Wrestling, Seth Rollins’ Black and Brave Academy, and Cody Rhodes’ Nightmare Factory.

While tryouts may have previously been the main path in a WWE career, the company has expanded the roads to possible stardom, opening opportunities up for a wider cohort of independent stars than ever before.

Where Next For WWE ID Signings?

Among the stars to have moved from WWE ID talent to signed stars recently have been Vanity Project (Ricky Smokes, Brad Baylor & Jackson Drake) and Sean Legacy, all of whom were added to the NXT roster.

There are championships all around for Vanity Project, with Drake holding the WWE Evolve Championship, and the team of Baylor and Smokes being the current NXT Tag Team Champions.

Independent stars have, however, left WWE ID, with Bryce Donovan and Zayda Steel, both of Vanity Project, being among those to part ways with the program last year.

WWE ID talent will also be in action over WrestleMania 42 weekend, with an ID Showcase event taking place in Las Vegas.

Many of those signed under the WWE ID program have become fixtures on Evolve, the Tubi show that streams internationally on YouTube, while continuing to perform on the independent wrestling scene, in addition to occasionally finding their way onto NXT programming.
