Gold Medal Winning Boxer Addresses Potentially Joining WWE Following Recent Visit WWE

A gold medal winning boxer has addressed potentially signing with WWE after being approached by the company.

2022 Commonwealth Games and 2023 European Games gold medalist Delicious Orie recently fuelled speculation about a transition to pro-wrestling.

Sharing a video to Instagram after Tuesday’s (September 24) NXT TV taping, Orie noted that he had been invited by WWE, and would be participating at the Performance Center during the week.

Speaking with the Daily Star, the super-heavyweight boxer revealed that WWE reached out to him on Instagram, noting:

“I thought at first that it could be a fake account, but then I looked into it with my manager Sean O’Toole and we realised it was the real thing.

“Like any kid, I got into wrestling when I was younger, I started watching it when I moved to the UK. I used to watch the likes of John Cena, the Undertaker while there was the odd appearance from the older legends like Stone Cold Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels.

“Me and my friends would do the moves, the usual putting the sofa cushions down for a bit of protection!

“It’s crazy to meet (Shawn Michaels). I also got to meet Booker T who is another wrestling legend as he works as a commentator for NXT.”

Addressing the possibility of him joining WWE, Orie said:

“It’s something we could think about. I want to be an inspiration for people.

“I know wrestling would increase my profile so much and I want to be a global star, that’s the aim to be known all over the world.

“Boxing is still something I believe I can be a huge success in.”

Tuesday’s NXT taping was the last episode on the USA Network, ahead of the gold brand’s premiere on CW on October 1.

‘Big changes’ have been teased for the presentation of NXT, which you can read more about right here.
