Former WWE Star Announces New International Wrestling Project WWE

A former WWE star has announced a new international wrestling project, seeking a multi-million dollar investment.

Former NXT Champion Trent Seven parted ways with WWE in August 2022 and has since returned to the independent scene.

A businessman in his own right, Trent Seven – real name Ben Webb – is now working with Oakwell Advisory to bring a European series into existence.

As reported by Sky News, Webb is working to raise £5m (approx. $6.6m) to build Project Fight into “Europe’s number one televised wrestling brand”.

Working alongside Oakwell Advisory, the firm that is attracting private capital into British Cycling, the Project Fight team has reportedly “held discussions with Sunset+Vine, the production company and Paramount, the owner of Channel 5 in the UK” to collaborate.

Talks with potential investors are also reportedly underway and have been so for weeks, with the report noting that “if successfully secured, the new funding would be raised at a pre-money valuation of roughly £10m.”

Webb stated that the ambition of the project was to “transform the UK and European professional wrestling landscape and create a business valued at over £100m over the next five years.”

The capital raised at this stage would reportedly see Project Fight able to break even in its third year of operation.

Reflecting on his history as a British wrestling promoter, Webb, having previously been a co-owner of Fight Club: Pro, told Sky News:

“I built a company from a disused scout hut with 40 friends and family in the crowd and grew it organically to thousands at the NEC, all over the UK, Japan, Mexico, USA and the world, and it helped change the landscape of British wrestling.

“There is a huge, passionate professional wrestling fanbase in the UK that lacks a domestic promotion to follow and is underserved by existing promotions.”

When it comes to the talent that Project Fight would seek to secure, it was stated the company would have a “gender-balanced roster” from the UK, USA, China, Japan, Australia, France, India and Canada.

Addressing the news of the project on his Instagram Stories, Trent Seven laid out his ambition further, stating:

“The fans, wrestlers, and promoters who carried the industry through the pandemic years deserve this. Their loyalty, resilience, and belief kept British professional wrestling alive.

“Now is the time for meaningful investment into the British and European wrestling scene – and with it, the launch of a brand-new product defined by immersive fan experiences. Gritty dramatics, and deep, character-driven journeys. This is designed not only to attract new audiences to the genre, but to give talent and independent promotions the visibility and support required to reach the highest levels of the industry.

“This is about rewarding those who supported professional wrestling, while building a stronger, more sustainable future for everyone involved.”

It was also revealed that a “premium pilot” is expected to take place in 2026, subject to successful fundraising.
