A change made to WWE backstage promos starting at this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw has been revealed.
Ahead of last night’s show, it was reported by PWInsider that a change had been made backstage to this week’s episode of the show.
The writers for the show’s promo segments were internally listed on the run-sheets at this week’s Raw, which traditionally not been the case.
For CM Punk’s opening promo, Alexandra Williams was listed as the writer. Williams is a senior writer for WWE, and has been with the company for four years.
Brian Parise, who is a long-time member of the WWE creative team, was listed as the writer for the Jey Uso promo segment, while Christian Scovell, a writer and producer for the company who has been with WWE for five years, was listed for Sami Zayn’s promo.
Traditionally, there would be no-one internally listed for segments that do no involve any physical interactions between talents, which Punk’s segment did not on the show, while the other two did.
When asking about the change, one source referred to it as a ‘natural evolution’ in how the company handles their creative now.
