Much like many a WWE pay-per-view, WWE’s statement on the positive COVID-19 tests leaves a lot to be desired. It has been reported that as many as two dozen WWE employees may have tested positive for the Coronavirus.
It was reported that even as late as 7:30 PM EST WWE had still not issued an internal statement to its employees. It finally released a statement to CBS Sports tonight.
There’s not much to it. Here you go:
”WWE will continue COVID-19 testing of its talent, production crew and employees in advance of TV productions for the foreseeable future.”
Great. You will continue testing. What are you going to do to prevent the spread? It was reported that some of the positive tests worked the tapings.
WWE did not comment on the positive tests at all. While HIPPA laws prevent WWE from identifying individuals who test positive, you would have thought WWE would have commented in some form.
It appears SmackDown will have to be rewritten as part of the fallout from all the positive tests. We’ll update this story as it develops.
