WWE Pulls Former Champion From Major wXw Event

wXw’s major tournament, 16 Carat Gold, is scheduled to take place from March 6-8. One of the competitors who was scheduled to participate in the tournament was former NXT Cruiserweight Champion, Lio Rush.

wXw announced earlier today that Rush has been pulled from the tournament by WWE. While fans have been disappointed, wXw also revealed that Rush would be replaced by Jeff Cobb.

Cobb has had an eventful 2020. While he is not signed to one particular company, Cobb made his AEW debut against Jon Moxley on February 19. He is also scheduled to compete in the New Japan Cup although the start of the tournament has been postponed due to the coronavirus.

Rush has been on NXT and 205Live since NXT moved to the USA Network. He defeated Drew Gulak for the Cruiserweight title in October 2019 and held it until December when he lost to Angel Garza.
