The final edition of SmackDown before SummerSlam scored just 2.189 million viewers.
This week’s show was billed as a “Special Edition.” I didn’t really see what was so “special” about it, but there were a few enticing prospects advertised beforehand:
- Bludgeon Brothers vs. New Day for the SmackDown Tag Team Titles
- Jeff Hardy vs. Randy Orton
- AJ Styles “exclusive interview” regarding what went down at SummerSlam
- Fallout from Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz
- Naomi vs. Peyton Royce (I know I said enticing but whatever)
This resulted in an increase for the blue brand, which much like Raw, scored its highest viewership since late April, bringing in 2.437 million viewers.
Which is good. Because SmackDown has been boss recently and only seems to be getting better.
