Well wasn’t Hell in a Cell a barrel of laughs?
The ending to the main event, although criticized heavily by some, did cause a stir and prompted many discussions, which basically means it was a good thing for WWE. It was also a massive shock to viewers at home. Or it would have been if loads of us didn’t read about it on Twitter hours before the show even started.
Anyway, how did Lesnar’s surprise return affect this week’s viewership figures? Let’s have a look shall we?
This is the WWE Raw and SmackDown Live TV ratings for the week beginning September 17.
Raw
The Hell in a Cell go-home edition of Raw last week clocked in at 2.740 million viewers.
Before this week’s edition, we had the fallout from Hell in a Cell to look forward to, as well as a returning Undertaker addressing his Super Show-Down match against Triple H.

However, it was yet another disappointing outing as viewers dropped for the fourth straight week, with an average of 2.672 million tuning in.
Here’s the hourly breakdown:
- 8pm – 2.839 million
- 9pm – 2.746 million
- 10pm – 2.432 million
I’m sure that decrease to 2.4 million has nothing to do with announcing a Baron Corbin Universal Championship main event in the first segment.
