WWE Raw In Brief: September 3 2018

Published 4th September 2018 at 7:49am by Greg Lambert

Here is all the news from an eventful edition of Monday Night Raw.

Braun Strowman explained why he joined forces with Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler and turned heel. It was because Roman Reigns brought back The Shield to back him up instead of allowing Strowman to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase one on one. The Monster Among Men got a mixed reaction but mainly boos. The Shield then came through the crowd but acting GM Baron Corbin led out the Raw roster to try to stop them, leading to a mass pull apart brawl.

Backstage The Shield were arrested and led away by police.

McIntyre and Ziggler then attacked The Revival while they were being interviewed backstage, taking them out of their Raw Tag Team Title match against The B Team.

Drew and Dolph then took Dash and Dawson’s place and defeated The B Team to win the Raw Tag Team Titles  when McIntyre pinned Curtis Axel after the Claymore-Zig Zag combo.

Later Braun Strowman pinned Finn Balor after a power slam. After the match The Shield returned in a police van to confront Strowman, Ziggler and McIntyre but were ambushed by the rest of the heels on the Raw roster. A vicious beatdown ensued. Rollins was thrown off the ramp into the side of the van, Strowman gave Reigns a powerslam on the floor, and all three Shield members were left lying outside the ring as Strowman, McIntyre and Ziggler soaked up the boos of the crowd.

The Undertaker made a shock return to Raw to interrupt as Shawn Michaels was telling the crowd that Triple H would defeat The Dead Man at Super-Showdown. This led to a tense confrontation between HBK and Taker which for all the world seemed to be teasing that Shawn would come out of retirement to face The Phenom one more time somewhere down the line.

The Bella Twins returned to action and defeated The Riott Squad when Nikki Bella pinned Liv Morgan off the Rack Attack 2.0.

Elias was interrupted by home town girl Alexa Bliss, Mickie James and Alicia Fox. The Goddess cut a promo on Columbus, Ohio and then ran down Trish Stratus, Ronda Rousey and Natalya. Rousey then interrupted as Elias was about to sing for Alexa.

Alexa Bliss then made Natalya tap to an armbar, stealing Rousey’s move. Bliss, Fox and James tried to triple team Rousey after the match but the Raw Women’s Champ fought them off, although she was left with injured ribs.

Afterwards The Bella Twins approached Rousey and Natalya in the dressing room. An upset Natalya left, then Brie and Nikki praised Ronda and offered to help her in future.

Jinder Mahal and Sunil Singh held an in-ring meditation session with Bobby Lashley. Kevin Owens then returned – one week after quitting – and attacked Lashley as he was meditating! The segment ended when KO power bombed Lashley on the ring apron.

Drake Maverick became the new manager of The Authors of Pain! Complete with his own mini AOP ring wear! Akam and Razar quickly squashed two jobbers.

The Boss n Hug Connection beat Ember Moon and Dana Brooke when Sasha Banks cradled and pinned Brooke who had been distracted by ringside instructions from Titus O’Neil and Apollo Crews. Afterwards Dana walked out on Titus Worldwide.

Chad Gable and Bobby Roode formed a new tag team and defeated The Ascension when Gable pinned Viktor after a Chaos Theory German Suplex.
