WWE Raw Live Results – April 5, 2021

WWE Raw Live Results – April 5, 2021
    wwe

It’s WrestleMania week. Tonight’s Raw is the go-home edition in more ways than one. Not only is it the last WWE Raw before WrestleMania, but it is my last week doing live results for the website. Family and work obligations are taking me away from the site. I’ll still be around occasionally, but I hope you’ve enjoyed the live results for the last few years.

Tonight’s Raw features Drew McIntyre versus Baron Corbin. Can Drew McIntyre overcome Lashley’s roadblock?

Here is what is advertised for tonight:

    • Drew McIntyre looks to overcome the obstacle of King Corbin before WrestleMania
    • The Hurt Business continue to implode as Bobby Lashley takes on Cedric Alexander
    • Asuka & Rhea Ripley to collide with WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Shayna Baszler & Nia Jax
    • Xavier Woods and AJ Styles set for rematch five days before WrestleMania title clash

    10:40pm

The midcard vortex is now the main event vortex

At one time, Corbin, McIntyre, and Lashley were all connected and fighting with and against Braun Strowman. I think maybe even against a reformed Shield. Now, they are the top of the card.

So far, this match is about what you’d expect. Drew is a big guy. Corbin is a big guy. They are wrestling a big guy match. This is a preview of what to expect with Drew and Lashley, but that one will be way better.

Corbin can’t put Drew away. MVP gets up from commentary. He hands Corbin his cane and says it’s not about winning, it’s about taking him out. Corbin tries to hit Drew, but he misses and runs into a Claymore.

Pretty good match. When WWE just stays simple, the wrestlers deliver. It’s when their booking gets in the way when it goes wrong.

Lashley comes out for a stare down to end the show. I was hoping for a Keith Lee attack, but stares is all we got.

    See you Wednesday.

CLAYMORE to @BaronCorbinWWE for the win!

    Riddle me this

Matt Riddle drove his scooter right through the middle of Ali and Sheamus talking. That one got me. I legit laughed. That doesn’t happen often on Mondays.

Now Riddle is facing Ali with Sheamus on commentary. Riddle may have the dumbest character in WWE, but week in and week out he’s in one of the better matches on television.

Probably only Sheamus has had consistently better this year. Riddle gets the win. I’m looking forward to him and Sheamus. If given time, it might be the best match of the weekend.

Drew vs. Corbin is next. We’ve got 30 minutes. I smell a brawl to end the show.

    Recap this

For Orton vs. Fiend, we get a recap package. It’s recapping all the segments where they recapped all the recaps. It’s like that Inception movie.

Bad Bunny and Damian Priest are out to the ring. I don’t get Bad Bunny’s fashion. I’m old though. So, what do I know?

After a long promo, the short version is it’s now a tag match. That’s much better. I’m glad whatever nagging injuries were around are gone or improved enough for this to be a tag.

The Hurt Business threatens the hurt

Cedric and Shelton have a message for MVP. Cedric grabs MVP and threatens him. Shelton is there too.

Lashley walks up and promises to break Cedric’s ass in half. Guess he’s going to put a crack in it.

They announced Tag Team Turmoil. WrestleMania’s twitter spoiled that Billie Kay was in the match with Carmella.

Lashley is out and he’s got lightning.  Lashley is manhandling Cedric in this one. If this turns out to be a ploy to allow Cedric and Shelton to interfere, the the beatdown is a little extreme.

Lashley gets the win. He locks in the Hurt Lock on Cedric. After he makes him pass out, Shelton attacks. He gets put in the hurt lock as well.

The only one who looks like a heel in this is WWE. Why did you break up The Hurt Business. You stumbled into something great. Just run with it.

    Have I seen this before?

This story feels familiar. A champion and her challenger are taking on the women’s tag team champions before they face off. Will they be able to coexist?

The short answer was no. Rhea Ripley attacked Asuka and face planted her on the floor.

She rolled her back in the ring and Asuka was pinned for the loss. WWE loves pinning their champs. This could have been just as effective with Asuka beating someone and Ripley attacking her after the match. But hey, then they wouldn’t get to say coexist 4342 times.

    8:45pm

    Braun Strowman dominates

In spite of both Ryker and Elias being in the ring at the same time, Strowman gets the dominant win. He points at the sign and stares down Shane.

So much for that big Elias push.

Backstage, Miz and Morrison approach Bad Bunny’s Bugatti. They paint Bad Bunny’s car. I believe that was ketchup.

I can’t believe WWE would allow for them to actually paint that car. That’s sacrilege.

After the break, Miz and Morrison take out Bad Bunny.

    8:33pm

Who is going to get those hands?

Braun talks about getting bullied from inside a steel cage. He says people pick on him because of his build. Isn’t this the same guy who bullied Kevin Owens for months? Don’t guess it matters much. Pretty much all of WWE is bullying the other person.

Braun is now the voice of the stupid. Wait, no. He’s the voice of anyone who has ever been called stupid. He promises to destroy Shane McMahon. Actually, he says he’s going to kill him. He says the last thing Shane’s going to hear is get the body bag.

Here comes Shane McMahon. Shane comes out and says the choice of a steel cage is not that stupid. He says he’s not just a man, he’s a mc’man.

With that, Elias and Ryker are out. It’s a 2 on 1 tornado handicap match next.

    8:18pm

    Woods vs. Styles

Prior to the match, Riddle talks things out with Woods and Kingston. They imply he’s high and gave them a contact high. Woods is out to fight Styles.

Omos seems to only have pink sweaters in his wardrobe. Kofi Kingston grabbed a mic and threw it at Omos. He distracted AJ Styles as well and Woods rolled up AJ. AJ has 3 losses in a row.

You have to think AJ and Omos are going to win in his debut. Not much of a match here.

We cut to Bad Bunny and his Bugatti. He pulls up with Damian Priest. Up next is Braun Strowman.

Truly a one of a kind meeting between champions on #WWERaw! pic.twitter.com/lncWock2bU

    8:02pm

Drew McIntyre is here to start the show

Tonight, Drew McIntyre is set to face King Corbin tonight. If Corbin can take him out, then he gets Drew’s spot. However, WWE is running promotional material for his match. Guess they think he’s winning.

Drew is talking about his mom having cancer and not going home. He kept pushing. He says he’s willing to sacrifice everything. He wants to know how Lashley can beat a man who will do anything to win.

This brings out Lashley. Lashley looks like a million bucks as always.

Drew wants to fight tonight. Lashley looks like he’s going to accept until MVP steps in. MVP and Drew exchange insults. Corbin comes out now. Corbin is in a plaid suit like The Hurt Business.

Corbin promises to take him out tonight. We’ll see.

The intensity in this segment was a step up from what we’ve seen. It’s WrestleMania time, but also Lashley and McIntyre are doing a great job here.
