Money in the Bank was on the minds of the WWE superstars as qualifying matches got under way. Here are the main headlines from an uninspiring and uneventful show:
Finn Balor qualified for the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match by defeating Sami Zayn and Roman Reigns in an exciting triple threat match. Balor pinned Zayn after the Coup de Grace after Jinder Mahal grabbed Reigns’ leg from the outside to stop a spear. Earlier Jinder beat Chad Gable. The Modern Day Maharaja was miffed that he didn’t get into the MITB qualifier so took it out on Roman. Lordy, yes, we’re getting a Reigns-Mahal feud.
Braun Strowman qualified for the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match by pinning poor Kevin Owens after a running powerslam. KO must be sick of the sight of Braun by now. We also learned that as a kid, Braun toppled a treehouse full of children and somehow didn’t end up in Young Offenders.
Super-worker Seth Rollins put in another shift as he beat Mojo Rawley with the Curb Stomp to retain the Intercontinental Title
On a night of 50-50 booking results, Bobby Roode pinned Elias after a Glorious DDT
Baron Corbin and The Revival beat Titus Worldwide and No Way Jose when Corbin pinned Jose after the End of Days
Ember Moon beat Ruby Riott and Sasha Banks to qualify for the women’s MITB match. Moon pinned Riott after an Eclipse. Bayley ran out to help Banks fight off Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan during the bout.
There was a profile piece on Bobby Lashley about his army and amateur wrestling credentials. Then Lashley did a sit-down interview with Renee Young talking about how much he loved his sisters and told some cute stories about life growing up with them. The lesson here was don’t mess with Cathy Lashley. She sounds horrible.
Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler beat Heath Slater and Rhyno. There was a “3MB!” chant when Drew and Heath squared off. McIntyre pinned Slater after the combination Zig Zag and Claymore.
The Deleters of Worlds defeated Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel after a double-team Sister Abigail.
