WWE Raw Preview, August 27, 2018 – WrestleTalk

Until the shield arrived to save Roman Reigns from Braun Strowman on last week’s Raw, it was set to be the worst episode of the year. Instead, it was the worst episode of the year with the Shield in it.

It’s needless to say that seeing the trio back in their probably uncomfortable ring gear is nice to see, but it doesn’t take away from the fact that even the  WWE.com preview writers, whose job it is to hype us up for Raw, have seemingly given up hope on this week.

Just for the sake of it, I’m going to give this preview the subtitles that WWE has given theirs, and we’ll see just how excited it gets you.

Braun Strowman wants to face Roman Reigns in the ring alone

Yeah, like that’s going to happen.

Clearly Braun didn’t watch a single episode of Raw in 2014 when the Shield were at the height of their powers, because unfortunately for him, that’s not really how it works with the ‘Hounds of Justice’.

Oh I’m sure it will start with just the two of them, but if Braun gets a bit carried away, I’m sure SIERRA, HOTEL, INDIA, ECHO, LIMA, DELTA, will ring out through the arena in no time.

Hopefully this won’t make Roman look like he always needs someone to help him, because if they are reverting back to old Shield, then they need to make them a badass trio, neither heel or babyface. Easy.

Ronda Rousey carries the torch

Excited yet?

No, me neither.

If you listen to Oli Davis, you might realise that we at WrestleTalk weren’t fans of last week’s Ronda Rousey (and all the other women) segment. It was phony, it was embarrassing and it was incredibly condescending on all the other women.

Everything is so based around friendship in the women’s division that they even had to try and find a place for Dana Brooke, who is apparently a babyface.

Alexa Bliss is still due a rematch, but if Ronda’s going to be a fighting champion, who will she beat in 5 seconds this evening?

Baron Corbin settles into his new position

Talk about an exciting headline.

It will be good to have a break from Kurt Angle actually, as he’s the most utterly useless GM in history.

This is actually Corbin’s best role since he’s been on the main roster, so hopefully we’ll get a bit less talking on the phone backstage and a bit more excitement.

This is clearly heading for a Kurt vs Baron match down the line, probably to decide who the GM will be going forward. If Baron wins that, it could be a huge boost to his career.

The Revival go 2-0 against the Raw Tag Team Champions

I will only care if they give The Revival the belts.

The Rest

  • The next chapter of Seth + Dean vs Dolph + Drew
  • Hopefully another installment of AOP vs Titus Worldwide
