WWE Raw Star Confirmed For NXT Title Match

WWE has announced a Cruiserweight Championship match for next week’s NXT New Year’s Evil special.

Raw superstar Gran Metalik will face the champion Santos Escobar next Wednesday for the title in a match that has many fans rather excited.

This match was announced after Metalik and fellow Lucha House Party member Lince Dorado interrupted a Legado del Fantasma promo on this week’s show. This led to a match between the two teams, which saw Metalik pin Raul Mendoza for the victory.

In a backstage interview, Gran Metalik promised Lince Dorado that he’d win the Cruiserweight Championship, and Lince confirmed that no matter what, he’d be in Metalik’s corner:

At this time, there is no word on whether or not Gran Metalik and Lince Dorado are now full-time members of the NXT roster or if this is a short-term run for them. Stay tuned to WrestleTalk.com for any potential updates.

New Year’s Evil will air next Wednesday night on the USA Network. Confirmed matches include Finn Balor vs. Kyle O’Reilly for the NXT Championship, Tommaso Ciampa vs. Timothy Thatcher in the Fight Pit, and Karrion Kross vs. Damien Priest.
