If you watched last night’s episode of NXT, you will have seen a match between KUSHIDA and Arturo Ruas.
KUSHIDA won the match with a modified pinfall, but the story of the match was the fact that Ruas was there at all.
I would honestly forgive you for forgetting, but Ruas was actually called up to Raw not long ago, and appeared on the quickly cancelled Raw Underground, defeating Mikey Spandex.
Ruas was also included in the 2020 Draft, where he was retained by Raw, so it seemed as though he was at least a part of the brand, even if he was unlikely to be used very often.
However, his appearance on NXT last night seems to suggest that either Ruas’ time on the main roster is over, or there are no plans for him on Raw, and they needed someone to job out to KUSHIDA. Either way, it’s not ideal for the Brazilian.
Ruas signed for WWE in 2015, but has struggled to make any kind of impact in NXT since debuting, which is a shame given his unique MMA/Ju-Jitsu style.
WWE.com still lists him as a Raw star, but for how much longer that will be the case is unclear.
