WWE shouted out Sting on commentary during Raw after his ‘epic’ AEW retirement match at Revolution 2024, thanking him for the memories.
On commentary during GUNTHER vs Dominik Mysterio, Pat McAfee and Michael Cole referenced Sting and his storied career.
Saying a thank you to Sting for all the memories, Pat McAfee specifically noted that Sting had an ‘epic match last night’ without naming AEW Revolution.
Some fans also took a line from Cody Rhodes’ promo – in which he said The Rock’s recent behavior towards him “stings” – as a reference to Sting as well.
Sting and Darby Allin defeated the Young Bucks to retain the AEW World Tag Team Championship in a no DQ tornado tag match at Revolution.
Since it was Sting’s final match, AEW CEO Tony Khan has confirmed that the championship has now been vacated and there’ll be a tournament to determine new champions.
Also on tonight’s WWE Raw, a match for WrestleMania 40 night two was made official. You can click here to read more about that.
