There was a big title change in the main event of tonight’s September 23 edition of WWE Raw from Ontario, California.
As announced last week, tonight’s show was headlined by the Intercontinental Championship match between Jey Uso and Bron Breakker.
The story reiterated throughout was that Uso was trying to do something he hadn’t been able to do in his 14-year WWE main roster career – win a singles title.
Joe Tessitore noted on commentary that he’d attempted six times in the past and never been able to win singles gold.
But it turns out that’s exactly what he did this time around as he scored the win over Breakker and for the first time ever is the WWE Intercontinental Champion.
Breakker had won the title from Sami Zayn at SummerSlam, with his reign coming in at 52 days.
Earlier during tonight’s WWE Raw, Zayn himself met with Uso backstage and wished him luck ahead of the match.
