With time seemingly coming to an end on Malakai Black’s time in AEW, there is support behind the scenes in WWE for a potential return.
Following reports that he was “done” with AEW, it was reported that Black could be a free agent in February or March 2025.
PW Torch has now revealed that Malakai Black has “influential people in WWE” in his corner for a potential return.
The report goes on to note that his supporters see him as a “possible top singles act” in WWE with it being suggested that Black sees the “landscape (as) more palatable” under Triple H than during Vince McMahon’s creative tenure.
However, Black had also previously told “some people in AEW” that he was “burned out” and wanted time away from the ring, even going so far as to mention the possibility of retirement.
With the leader of the House of Black faction leaving, it now appears that the remaining members will be going their own way after events on the January 11 episode of AEW Collision.
Black, the former Tommy End, signed with WWE in June 2016 and would debut as Aleister Black in January 2017 at an NXT house show.
While he would appear in the United Kingdom Championship Tournament on January 15, 2017 as Tommy End, he wouldn’t have his televised NXT debut until April of that year at NXT TakeOver: Orlando, beating Andrade.
An NXT Champion during his time with the company, Black would be released by WWE in June 2021 debuting in AEW on July 7 of that year at AEW Dynamite: Road Rager.
His time in AEW hasn’t been without title success, with House of Black holding the AEW World Trios Championship.
