WWE ‘Very Happy’ With Recent Character Change

WWE ‘Very Happy’ With Recent Character Change WWE

The June 11 episode of WWE NXT saw the return of Wendy Choo with a new character with a much darker tone than previously portrayed.

Choo returned with her familiar sleepwear combination, though the colors were much less cheerful.

Facing Brinley Reece, NXT commentators Vic Joseph and Booker T both recognised her new ‘malicious intent’ and ‘sense of purpose.’

The change has been recognised behind the scenes, too, with Fightful Select noting that officials were “very happy” with Choo’s new character and the fan reaction to it.

Last week’s WWE NXT gave us our first look at the new Wendy Choo in the form of a short video reintroducing her to our screens with a darker interpretation, as can be seen below this news story.

Choo has since commented about her WWE NXT return on Twitter, tweeting:

“New character unlocked.”

Choo signed with WWE in February 2019 having debuted as part of the 2018 Mae Young Classic as Karen Q.

She would suffer a fractured lateral malleolus and underwent a lengthy rehabilitation, returning in December 2020 as Mei Ling, the head of the stable Tian Sha (Xia Li & Boa).

A return to the ring in August 2021 would see the Ling character eventually dropped and Wendy Choo revealed in November 2021.

February 2023 saw Choo suffer an injury that would see her written off TV though she did compete on WWE NXT Level Up and at house shows before her eventual return to television.

Her NXT Level Up return saw an incredible fan reaction, with Choo noting “It feels great to be back” on Twitter.
