WWE’s LA Knight has reflected on facing Roman Reigns at Crown Jewel 2023, noting that he needed to rebuild himself following this loss.
Following an impressive rise in popularity, Knight challenged for Reigns’ WWE Undisputed Universal Championship at the November 4, 2023 Saudi Arabia PLE.
Knight ultimately came up short, losing to Roman Reigns after 20 minutes of action.
While Knight has since went on to win the US Championship, the SmackDown star has revealed that it took him re-finding himself to achieve success again.
Speaking with CBS Sports, Knight noted that while he felt the match elevated him in a way, he went through a rebuild season following the main event opportunity.
He explained:
“I think it took me in a few different directions. Optically, in a way, it elevated me. It also kind of set me back a little bit to where I had to do a bit of a rebuild in the winter and springtime of last year.
“I think that’s by virtue of how it was set up and how it was done. Ultimately, Crown Jewel was a nice payoff so that was pretty good.”
Knight currently holds the US Championship, which he won back from Shinsuke Nakamura on the March 7 SmackDown episode.
